Bitumen road surfacing

Laying the bitumen surface is often the last major stage in the construction of a road. Wanty’s engineers have over 25 years’ experience and are well versed in this delicate operation, which requires a high degree of accuracy. Priority must be given to completing the work quickly, while at the same time handling the problems associated with road traffic in the vicinity and changes in weather conditions, which are often difficult to forecast. The high capacity and flexibility of Wanty’s new asphalt plant mean that it is now in a position to work on large motorway sites and at the same time handle smaller projects.

The asphalt road surfacing business is very much integrated into the Wanty Group’s other activities, requiring co-ordination with sectors such as excavation, road construction, road marking and even the laying of different types of pipe. Wanty’s surfacing engineers are highly flexible and able to adapt to the specific requirements of each of their customers (night-time or Sunday working, etc.). They have access to modern equipment and a large fleet of specialised machinery which enables them to lay the different road surface layers to a very high standard.

The high quality required by the authorities awarding contracts for large projects, such as motorway works, also benefits the other customers of Wanty’s asphalt surfacing division. From a garage drive for a private householder, through the construction of roads or public spaces or simple repairs for local authorities, to large and complex car parks for retail centres, the same rigorous approach is applied and the same quality materials are laid by the team in each case, all of which serves to benefit the customer.
